Subject: [Leica] Acer Aspire One with CS4 vs Capture NX 2

My opinions...

1. I think (if it were me) that a bigger screen and lots of RAM (min 4GB)
and lots of CPU horsepower are all somewhere between highly desireable to
necessary for any photoediting (YMMV)

2. NX2 has the worst user interface since DOS3. Actually, it's both worse
and more frustrating.

3. NX2 is, to a greater extent than any software I've used, a resource pig,
although you can take some steps to reduce its impact by tweaking program
settings

4. NX2 gives overall better results than Adobe products with .nef files,
though whether the improvement is worth the trouble is a matter of
individual choice

5. NX2 has some tools that Adobe products really don't yet offer, although
you can buy them from NIK (although I found that it was cheaper to buy NX2
than to buy the NIK product

Bon chance!

Right, Nikon NX has the software built in to detect what lens you are
using and what corrections need to be made. I'm told LR3 will have
this once it passes the Beta stage as well. I would assume if LR will
have it so will CS5. You can download a lens profile program from
Adobe for free right now.
