The Nikon Coolscan 4000 ED runs on Firewire which is rated at either 400 or 
800 mbps. USB II is rated at 480 mbps, however in the real world both 
Firewire versions are actually faster then USB II.

An automobile analogy would be USB II has the horsepower but Firewire has 
the torque, quess which one gets you to speed faster?
