Most of the solutions offered really work on a fixed-ring standard thickness
filter.

Before I take it into town for "professional help" I thought I'd check in
with the LUG about the Heliopan Slim Circular Polarizer on my R-Vario 70-180
APO.

It's over-tightened, probably from a lot of in-and-out of the bag during 3
days at Grand Canyon.

It's too thin to get a good grip with either rubber gloves or rubber bands
plus the built-in hood - when retracted - protrudes just enough to obstruct
rubber bands, etc.

The usually reliable rubber mat/rubber glub tricks don't work for the same
reason.

Is there a Secret Navy Leica Lens solution out there, or do take my baby to
town?

Thanks in advance.

Bob
