Leo,

Press it firmly against the palm of your hand and turn the lens, it 
sometimes helps to give it a slight twist in the wrong direction first.

If it hurts and if you have one, wear a thick rubber glove to prevent it 
cutting into your hand or slipping.

If that doesn't work, try wrapping a rubber band around the filter to 
get more grip.
