It seems apparent that Dr Kaufmann has made an assessment and put a great deal of his money behind his judgement. I wish him well and Leica every success of course. I respectfully disagree that Leica should be either trying to compete directly with the Japanese giants or limit their endeavours to making lenses for other folks' cameras. Carl Zeiss seem to have taken that as one aim, I have no idea what proportion of their business this represents. I do like their designs certainly. Ultimately my Leica glass is the best in the world, and their digital rangefinder is the ONLY choice. I like Leica just how they are. Whether I can keep funding new Leica stuff as an amateur in the current climate is rather a separate issue. Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/e http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/gh/ Maike Harbets speaks on the S2. .... So we will drop down this technology to our other systems. Our priority is to modernise the R system which will be in the end an R10, definitely. -----Original Message----- Subject: RE: [Leica] R10 news How about getting real over the fiscal rationality of the S2 vs the R10? With limited R+D money, you need to make rational choices and therefore priorities..... A company can only make a few ( to no) wrong choices....... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net Not sure what Leica need to compete. Perhaps it is time to Leica to recognise that they can best serve Leica enthusiasts by offering lenses in C, N and S mounts, just like CZ. _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
