Search Huw Finney on photo.net and you will find a guy doing pretty much what you are proposing, to his M2!!! One thing to remember is that the cogs at Solms churn very slowly. I will place bets on a M digital that will look as much as a M7, with barely enough to make it digital, and not anything radically different. Of course this is all speculation on my part...
