I?ve used a handful of my DX glass on my full frame bodies and I had no idea how well they?d do at full frame. They do seem totally usable. I was tempered when I got the 35 1.8 DX at the B&H counter and see if it covered as compactness was good as well as weight and price. But I just saved up more bucks and got the full frame 35 1.8. The problem with DX from Nikon and cropped glass from other companies is they look cheap. Photographers don?t care what our pictures look like we care what our lenses look like. And they don?t look like pro gear. Hate to say that makes a difference to me but it does. I don?t use kit lenses any more.
