Hell, no, it's not cured! This IIIf is retired I guess, as much as I like the handling. Did the CLA thing locally, took it back for light leak a couple of times. He insisted it was fixed, only showing "reflections from inside the lens." Then sent it to big-name repair for another CLA and repair of light leak. Came back still leaking light (but with a much brighter viewfinder). Sent it back. It stayed for almost two years. Changed baffles. Got it back Monday. Ran a roll through yesterday and today at lunch. Still leaking light. I get this completely uneducated feeling that the shutter has no part in the leak. Repairer says it's not the lugs... I think I'll put a short roll in it with a capped lens and no exposures and see if leaving it in the sun results in exposure. I had high hopes, but am pretty well beaten now on fixing it. A trip to yet another repair person, and I could have bought a CL for what I have in fixing a free camera. Hi Ho... Here are the first 8 frames from the first roll back. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/ricc/Grab-Bag/leak/> http://tinyurl.com/cebz2j It did lay (lens capped) on the seat of the car in full sun for a while after shooting these frames. There is milder exposure later in the roll and strongest in the sprocket margin. Ideas welcome. Ric Carter http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/ricc/
