I would say it was an adequate backup to the M8. The G1 is a completely different animal. I played with one at Photokina and the viewfinder was better, certainly bigger, than I had expected. The chip is quite a bit smaller than the RD1 though so the crop is more. I have not seen any results from one. My RD1 benefits from the Leica lenses, one of my favourite photographs was taken with it. cheers, Frank --- On Fri, 12/12/08, John Abela <jamriman@gmail.com> wrote: > From: John Abela <jamriman@gmail.com> > Subject: [Leica] RD-1 (AGAIN) or G1? now WTB: RD-1 > To: lug@leica-users.org > Date: Friday, 12 December, 2008, 4:48 PM > [Leica] RD-1 (AGAIN) or G1? now WTB: > RD-1<http://leica-users.org/v38/msg04217.html> > > Now, the initial question was about the R-D1 as a backup > for an M8 but like > many topics here, the question never got answered since the > "M8 as a backup > for an M8" quip came out.
