As for the cheese, Michiel has answered your question--most of the supermarket stuff is indeed bland, certainly for anyone used to French or Spanish cheeses. If you do buy from a local producer, like Michiel does, then you find more interesting stuff. But at the end of the day I think it is fair to say that while Dutch cheese is of good quality, the range of flavours is much more limited than in France or Spain.
