Jack-
Actually, Since a snow here, in Greensboro at least, is usually followed a
day or so later by 60 degree weather, it just gives the locals a chance to
go out and drive like idiots in the snow and have wrecks they otherwise
couldn't blame on the weather! ( For some reason- having an SUV is supposed
to make you an expert in snow driving!)
Having lived here most of my life, I am used to the 'give and take'!
I shudder to think of living permanently in a place like Quonset Point, RI
where I was stationed on a ship one winter-- months of snow, and after every
storm, we had to shovel off the flight deck of our old wooden decked carrier
to keep the snow load from collapsing it!

Alas, sorry to hear you are a Dook Fan-
