I have a Panasonic GH1 which is bigger than the GF1, but, for me, the increase in size is small and well worth it for the viewfinder and swivel screen. The 10x mag is good for manual focus, but 5x would be fine too IMO. With the 400mm f6.8 10x is neither exploitable nor necessary :-) I bought it as a go anywhere camera when out with my grandchildren, since it has HD video too. Subsequent to getting a 20mm f1.7 I find it lives in my jacket pocket more and more.
