Hi Nathan,
I'm in a similar position. I got an Asus 901 a year ago, and am using
it whenever my MacBookPro is too big. I take it on trips etc. I store
my photos on 2 1/2" USB drives attached to the netbook; I access the
internet, can use OpenOffice and Skype with video.
It's got a 20Gb SSD and Linux. It works, but it doesn't run the same
apps as the Mac. That's the main problem. I don't want programs that
may or may not be able to do the same things, I want to use the same
programs. In particular, when away I want to be able to use Lightroom
and Photoshop. I could get a Windows machine, but I have been forced
to use Windows at various times and don't really want to any more. It
still would work like the Mac.
So I too am hoping that Apple will have a netbook/tablet computer
shortly. The rumours are promising.
