Without doubt, for comparable surface area, the CCD sensors in my M8
and DMR
out perform equivalent ISO speed films, using similar surface areas,
in every regard that affects image quality.
(and as Doug noted - even higher ISO speeds with the sensors out
perform lower ISO speed films)

That said; I continue to appreciate the "different" aesthetic
qualities that film and silver prints offer.
I (secretly) wish an economical digital enlarger head could throw the
image onto an easel.

(Sort of like wishing Dr. Kaufmann and his Leica company would be
something other than they, in fact, are.
;~) Note: I'm truly enjoying Dr. Kaufmann's decisions. Fun to watch.
Can't wait to see the images from a Leica S2. I fully expect that
they will take my breath away. Further: I expect that what they learn
on the S2 journey will make the R10 a unique and well thought out
"next R" whether I'll be able to afford any of it or not.

Fond regards,
