I'm a Mac guy so I really can't address the issues between Windows and
Mac for you.

I have used laptops with both the glossy and matte finish screens.
When I bought my new laptop it has a glossy screen. It's better in
bright light and has better color display. It does have some
reflections but not what I expected.
