good question Bob... why a filter esp for bw...?

but more to the point, why shoot RAW to get more complete data, and  
use a filter to exclude data?


I don't use any filter for bw, but then I rarely use a filter for color.

Some of the best bw images I ever got from the M8 were jpeg fine bw,  
right out of the camera, and yes...

no filter...

I think it's all about the light, and adjusting to eye with PS or LR,
