The shutter "Error" "Fault" occurred with M8. I was able to get it to
work by going through a number of on off cycles, pulling the battery
and replacing, pulling the card and replacing - all in no particular
order - sort of "voodooish" I limped along, repeating these rituals
as needed, for about two weeks; when the camera finally became
totally unusable; and I sent it to New Jersey.

I've had it back for about a month. It's worked fine since. Knocking
on wood.

You'll have to send it in to Leica, somewhere, sooner or later. It
may as well be sooner.
