George, your PAW choice is a bit mushy for my taste ;-)
Actually I mean I don't follow the elements with the sign, post and traffic. 
The planes of fungus area and grass work for me. The
trees sort of meld with the clouds. Maybe I'm missing the point?

1 for the softness and receding tones- elegant
2 similarly and marvellous clouds but I like the separation of the trees in 
the first,
8 is a big wow, the foliage's edge line and those boiling clouds -superb
