I really do think it's noise performance is much better. I used Photoshop Elements to remove the color from each of the two images which I posted. When I turn color into black and white I usually use Photoshop to darken the shadows and lighten the highlights. This usually has the effect of making the images look "darker". This is what I did to the first image. I didn't do this with the second, cropped image. The second version, in plain language, has been messed with less than the first. This is probably why they look different. The reason I did this was that the goal was to remove the darkness on the left side of the image and deliberately darkening it seemed counter productive. I have a question for you. What size images should I post. I usually down size them to 690 x 430 pixels before I post them. I am not very knowledgeable about these things. If you could give me the right numbers I will be more than glad to post images at that size. Have I come even close to answering your question?
