It has more than one hood listed on individual lenses if they fit. <http://www.kbcamera.com/lenshoodchart.htm> From this list and discussions on other forums, the 12585 may not fit on the current 50mm f2.8 Elmar. I do not have the current Elmar but I do have the 12585 hood which I use on my 50mm collapsible and DR Summicrons. The requirements to use this hood is the lens should have a 42mm external mount diameter with a grove for the spring loaded clips.
