Eric,

"Matching" is a misnomer. There are tolerances, +/- that are allowed
on the production line. If you are using a camera and lens that are
at the limits of the equipment (i.e. the 135mm 3.4, the 90mm 2.0, the
75mm 1.4, the 50mm 1.0) the tolerances being off one way on one and
the other way on the other may be enough to throw the camera-lens
system off. So, you can send them in under warranty, and they will
manually adjust them both to dead-on the precise specs, not just
within the +/- that is allowed on the production line. Both then
should work just as well or better with any other body/lens
combination as well. They are not "mated" to each other.
