Hi Ernie,

I spent five days in Vegas with my brother in April 2005. We spent
more time in the desert taking pictures than in the casinos. Red Rock
Canyon and Valley of Fire were nice and easy drives from LV. It had
been a wet spring and Valley of Fire was blooming. Looking down it
looked very dry with scattered small sprouts. Looking toward the
horizon the desert had a green sheen. We also made the trip to the
South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Well worth the four and a half hour
drive from Vegas. I'd never seen it. One doesn't get the same sense
of scale from pictures. Truly an appropriate use of the overused word
awesome.

Have fun,

Will
