In the past few years, a lot of the equipment to mark the top covers has 
been up for sale.  It happens rarely, but it does happen.
A lot of top covers have been available, NOS as well.  You see them all the  
time on Ebay..

Faking cameras is not he problem, it is faking serial numbers of rare 
cameras that is the problem.  OPnce you own the marker and the
top covers, the rest is trivial......
