in checking today I found out something new.

on my three sample cameras,

the Voigtlander 50/2 Heliar can be safely collapsed safely into the 
Leica CL, M5, or M8.

the Voigtlander 50/3.5 Heliar can be safely collapsed into the Leica CL 
or M8, but not the M5

note that there are most likely unknown production variations in both 
the lenses and cameras.  so proceed with caution before you 
inadvertently jam or damage your camera.
