Depends on your opinion of "vastly superior". IMO the differences  
between lenses are reasonably subtle, and resolution is not, for me,  
the most important one. I shall buy a M8 because I generally prefer  
the look of my Leica lenses over the Canon ones and I much prefer  
rangefinders to SLRs. That is enough for me.
  It is cheaper than my EOS 1Ds was and I know when I get one I will  
use it more and enjoy doing so -much- more.
