It has great food and pies. A little way further on is Ramsey's Draft natural area. It has great hiking if you have time. There are some virgin giant hemlocks if you hike far enough, but I never have. Three valleys west is a pretty little town called Monterey. There is a nice little restaurant there http://members.cox.net/durling/photo/highs.jpg (On topic...Leica M4 Nikkor 35/2.5) Which again has good food, try the fried trout, and...more pie :) Across the street is the 100+ year old Highland Inn where we have stayed a couple of times. A little further west is the Blue Grass Valley which has some beautiful farms in between the mountains. On the map you can see a loop road that comes back to Monterey. There are also some incredibly beautiful places on the gravel roads that branch off of Rt 250 before Monterey. On into West VA there is the Green Bank radio observatory and the Cass Scenic Railroad. These are about an hour from Monterey which is itself an hour and a half or two off the parkway. We've done some of this in a day trip from Williamsburg, but its more pleasant as a long weekend. Not sure where the roads go after West VA, but maybe you can make it work. The Vette should be good in the mountains. Mike D Adam Bridge wrote: > Would you send those along, Mike?
