Swiss foreign ministry, under the lead of the (socialist) minister Micheline Calmy-Rey, has offered to make intermediate negotiotations for hisbollah several times in the past (as they do between USA and Iran). But hisbollah refused everytime. They have nothing to negociate with their enemies. Hisbollah, as well as many other warlord groups in this region, need hate, destruction and war, otherwise they would lose their power. The war is their means of existence, their humus soil where they put their deadly seeds in. Nothing could trouble them more than peace, democracy and prosperity. Too many war profiteers over there. Have you once read about the hundred of millions of dollars that disappeared in the hands of the Arafat family? On the other side I agree Israel was not very well adviced to ride such massive assaults and hit civilians. They just feed the hisbollah with that. Keep the carousel circling. As I understand many israelians think similarly, too - their PM Olmert's popularity dropped from 71% to 37% today.
