I'm not suggesting anything actually exists right now which would work better for you than manual focussing on a good ol' groundglass, but... wasn't there something out from Canon awhile ago, some freaky science-fiction EOS feature where it'd watch where your eyeball was pointing in the frame and choose AF point accordingly? I always wondered if something like that could work in a reliable, industrial-strength way. I don't seem to see that feature any more -- I wonder if that's because it never quite worked as hoped, or because Canon are convinced that the future lies in a swarm-of-bugs quantity of automagical AF points, with focus point chosen by the camera's Very Clever Algorithms, no awkward human interaction required?
