Sure the radio screenplays came first and when he wrote the book
(which he had also said had been his first intention but he found
himself a bad book writer due to a chronic case of procrastination) he
changed the story a bit to fit the book format (the horror!).
Nonetheless, he was always proud of the way the book translated to a
wider audience than the radio show had (the radio show being a bit too
british said he) after all he had been hitchiking in Austria, drunk,
and in a ditch, with a copy of the "Hitchikers Guide to Europe" when
he had the idea for the whole thing... if it didn't sell there it
would have been a shame.

I am well aware he died, but he did write the screenplay - dead or
not. This aint a pissing contest Marc. Don't panic.
