One more pitch for the 35. It's better because...

... you can't back up through a wall, when shooting indoors. Rooms are
probably on the small side where you are going.

... because it's easier to shoot your friends in a restaurant, without 
having to tip your chair
back and risking a fall in to someone else's lunch.

... because on every trip I have ever taken, the 35 was better at 
shooting
landmarks.

--- when push comes to shove you can handhold a 35 at least a stop 
slower than a 50.

... unless it's a 1.4/35 Summilux ASPH, it's is smaller than almost any 
50 and will let you
pocket the camera.

.... the 35 framelines on any modern M are more accurate than those for 
the 50.
