Depending on the head you get, it has all the requirements. It is light and sturdy. It does, however, cost a bit more that $200. I got mine with a head for $300 to replace my heavy Bogen, but it was worth every penny for me. I don't mountain hike, but I do haul it around a lot and at about 1.2 the weight of my Bogen it is a real blessing. My cameras and lenses weigh enough w/o the added burdon of a heavy tripod.
