May I also assume that when you right click to set the color balance for the sunlit gray card, that it retains that balance for all the frames on that roll until purposely changed by double right clicking? (I just downloaded and did a quick read of the latest Vuescan version). Vuescan requires a lot of hands-on, but at least it seems straight-forward. Yup - I shoot a graycard in full sunlight for each roll. Of course the lighting will vary widely throughout the rest of the roll, but this technique gets you in the ballpark. After much urging by me and others over at alt.comp.periphs.scanners, Ed Hamrick added the right click feature. I was pushing for full IT8 profiling, but was told it was way too complex a task. I am glad to get back to NPH - I have never found another film quite like it.
