Forgiveness coming from us is meaningless, without substance. If the forgiveness is to have meaning, it would have to come from those whom they persecuted. And, unfortunately, most of those are a mixture of ash and bone or lie in unidentified burial sites. It seems very presumptuous for any of us to think we have any right to forgive them for harm done to someone else. Makes no sense. With no intention to trivialize the issue, if one LUG member insults another, can a third forgive him for it?
