Muhammad,

A 3-cam lens is not nessesarily a newer lens, as many older lenses have been converted from 1-cam or 2-cam configuration. For the 60mm Macro there have been no optical changes over the last 30 years and only one mechanical change, from Series VIII to E55 filters, and the older Series VIII version can also use E60 filters.

With other R lenses there may be more dramatic differences in mechanical design, such as the reduced size & weight of the 180 Elmarit-R or 35 Summicron-R, or much closer focus of the 250 Telyt-R. There are no real losers among the fixed focal length R lenses. I know nothing about the older zooms except that the early 80-200 f/4.5 cannot be used on the SL.
