Subject: [Leica] 80 Summilux R (was 'Am I being stupid? (R content)')

I shot with my 85 f2 ai today on my D700.
It was like an old friend that's the best thing about my all of a sudden
going full frame. It looks just like a 50mm 1.4 but with an added quarter
inch you cant see. They think you're getting everything but you're getting
just them.
I also have a 1.8 AF but its twice the size and weight for what? A billionth
of an f stop and AF?
I don't need no stinking AF.
I am AF.
And the 1.4 is ast least twice the size of the 1.8 for what?
77mm filters that's nuts!

I was about to say I'd take the Leica 1.4 anyday and get a Leitax for it but
then I saw a picture of the nikon right here
http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/images1/85mm-f14/85-14-KEN_7461-950.jpg
Click on it to make bigger.
It may be more gorgeous then the Summilux.
So I'm less convinced.
The smart money is the Leica glass in the inside better. And design.

The Nikon 85/1.4 is a nice lens, and the F3 is also a very good body.

The 90 APO is very impressive, but at portrait distances it is

The 80 R-Summilux is a very nice older design,
