Frank, no it ain't! The pixel pitch is identical as you say. I guess on
theoretical resolution over the same area of the sensor what you say is
true. The red sensitivity in the bayer thingie is not and the IR sensitivity
is most decidedly not.  Completely new firmware too. I have some jpegs right
from camera that dramatically demonstrate the reproduction of synthetic
black fabrics, black plastic and metal  etc without UV/IR and at 800 ISO. On
early results the vignetting appears to be effectively dealt with by the new
micro lens arrangements too. Anecdotally there appear to be gains in dynamic
range, but we will need some production cameras out there in expert hands
before anything definitive emerges there.
The first production M9 to be sold to Australian hands that I know of is
delivered tomorrow. I look forward to hearing from the lucky owner.
