The Fuji X100 (I have the original) images look nothing like that from an M9 
(which I still have)....

Lluis,
If you are using the M9 for only casual work, the practical solution would
be to sell it for whatever you get, and buy a used fixed lens camera of
the  Fuji X100 series - whichever iteration suits you - to take its place.
I have used a Fuji X100S for this purpose for the last decade with no
issues at all - in the last 11 years it has never gone within sniffing
distance of a Fuji service centre. It is a fantastic camera with a very
good, fastish 35mm equivalent lens, ideal for this purpose - a real, well
designed workhorse.

I know talking practicality to Leica users is a mugs game, but that is my
two bits! ?
