Long ago we had threads on the LUG about batteries. To my aged memory the consensus was to buy a stack of batteries that would last the useful life of the camera. Another conclusion was that third party batteries were cheaper but possibly not as good for a variety of reasons. My experience has been that third party batteries have anomalous discharge curves. Specifically that the first fifty percent discharge rate is normal but asymptotically discharges afterward. So I stock up on name brand batteries as I prefer to go out with one battery or if away from home take six or seven batteries with no charger. Last, based on the posts, it might be a better strategy to rent the preferred camera for a significant event rather than buy. For example, I could rent an M11 monochrome for ~$450 rather than the >8K for ownership.
