I do not know about the Leica SL lenses, but the Nikon Z series full frame
mirrorless 24-70mm f2.8 zoom is much smaller and lighter than the
equivalent F mount version. I would guess that it is because of not having
the vibration reduction mechanism in the lens, as well as the less weight
and bulk of the new "focus by wire"  electronic focusing system (as opposed
to the old mechanical focusing system). The primes are roughly comparable
to their F mount AF cousins.
