Thank you for the comment.   The dunes are on the windward side and tend to
pull sand from the beach and into the land.   The sandboarders tend to push
the sand back down.   This activity only happens on bare sand(the movement
is so large that plants don't get much chance to grow before the dunes move
over them.

The citizens of Oregon are very sensitive to their environment and work
hard to maintain/ improve the natural side.   Most of the coast is public
land and is being maintained in a very sustainable fashion.
