The retail value is in the 2000-2500 range. A dealer will offer you 1/3 to 1/2 of that value for one in good shape.... no problems. A retail user might be hard to find..... knowing there is a problem that is $$$ to fix..... The repair from Leica will cost $1500. And take about 6 months or longer. Bottom line.... find some dealer to take it off your hands......or fix it yourself and use it..... I suspect that the corrosion problems in an image could be corrected just like dust.... There is one other option..... have someone like Kolari Vision put a new glass cover plate on ( the actual part of the sensor with a problem) for about $400..... THEN sell it..... Like anything it's all about circumstance. Corroded M9's don't bring a great deal and it would be unethical to not disclose if asked. So, if a dealer makes the round trip of trade in and purchase within a small sum of used and firesale M9 I would go with new. Contra-wise check out KEH's purchase price of your M9 with condition fully disclosed; they will offer you about 70% of retail for a good condition Leica. Plus KEH frequently has very clean M10's for sale and frequently do a 10% extra on the trade or purchase. Ebay is pretty easy but some stress with the wide range of humanity asking wierd questions. Last, check with a Leica store about demos, samples, and trade ins.
