I just heard, but it is not confirmed for certain as yet, that Leica have
just awarded their first dealership in India, to the same people who handle
Montblanc and other high end luxury marques here, who have no photography
experience whatsoever, but plenty of experience selling upmarket luxury
goods. They are planning on putting up five boutiques in Delhi, Mumbai,
Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, the metropolitan areas where this makes a
lot of sense. It is very clear to me what their target market is in India.
Service courtesy should be better here, though, as oligarchs and the rest
of the 0.1% are not used to such treatment!

Cheers
Jayanand
