Frankly, I really don't care about software correction. It's the end result
that matters, however it's delivered.

Software correction for distortion, vignetting, and lateral chromatic
aberration gives more degrees of freedom in the optical design, allowing
for smaller and/or better performing lenses at a lower cost.

When the world went AF, a lot of newer "zoom" lenses were really vari-focal
lenses, where refocussing was necessary when you change the focal length.

Having said that, I really missed my Leica when I was taking pictures of my
daughter dancing on stage. The rangefinder focussing is so much more
accurate and predictable.
