Regarding Gates - I think I read somewhere that he supports Democratic
causes and contributes to them. His foundation's activities are definitely
of the liberal school ( fighting disease, fighting malnutrition, humanity
in general, a worldwide view) rather than right wing (church, university,
Americans, a parochial view) in its approach to charitable causes.

Americans are very lucky - only it does not seem to sink in - that their
philosophy entails so much giving away in charity - so much of the
advantages of the USA as a destination (higher education, for example) is
built on the back of giving away vast amounts of wealth, which tends to
benefit everyone. You have to come other countries like India to see and
realize just how rapacious and miserly crony capitalists are in general -
they steal liberally from the people (usually the poorest of the poor,
because they cannot fight back) and give back zilch in return.

George, you guys are lucky.

Cheers
Jayanand
