Subject: [Leica] Colorado - Durango to Silverton RR

As I said, the weather did not bother me at all.  I was excited.  I think my 
wife and her dad would have liked one of the enclosed cars, but it seemed 
that everyone from the enclosed cars was wandering out to our car to take 
pictures.  Since all seats were assigned, they would hang out over the edge 
by the stairs and were always in my way taking pictures.  So, I would still 
recommend the open cars.  Much more exciting.  Had to watch out for the soot 
at times, but for me that just added to the trip.  Not so for my companions.

We did opt for the bus ride back rather than taking the train back.  Train 
both ways makes for a 9 hour trip instead of about 6 hours.  And with the 
weather, it was probably a wise choice.  They were both pretty tired of 
getting bounced around for all that time.  And it is bouncy.  And my 
father-in-law was just a few weeks shy of 90, so it rattled his old bones a 
bit.
