In 1966, when I considered ( dreamed is more like it) buying a new M2r
(cause it was cheaper) , the price was around $300.  It was Middle Class
affordable.
My Contax RF kit, bought used from one of my Mom's teacher friends, was $100
and included 3 lenses and 2 bodies.  It was more affordable.
