Actually not. the float on a Cessna is not too much further out than the
normal wheel.

 It especially felt suitable and safe over the swamps and the Gulf.

I was a news shooter for WWL-TV in New Orleans, and we were forever flying
out to shoot oil spills, barge accidents and such.  Once there was a rig
fire, and the Gulf was so calm that we landed and taxied around the rig.  I
stood on the 182's float while I shot.
