When I was a kid, my cat (Howard) would bring his kills, usually a 
rabbit, to our front porch and scratch on the door.  He wouldn't eat it 
until I came to the door and looked, then the next morning I would have 
to hose the porch off.  He always carted off the remains somewhere.
