Hi Herb,
Right on and an absolute perfect manner in using a flash anytime. IF? One
has a situation where you really have to use one, yes I have been in those
situations on occasion and used a flash! Another confessional! :-)

If one doesn't and they blow the shoot standing on the idea... "I NEVER USE
FLASH EVER!" Then you have to be a very very stupid photographer! Regardless
of what I've said about flash destroying the effects of available light and
the motivation, it does!

But we also have to use common sense to ensure we have a successful shoot!
If you have to in a place where you can! Bounce it always! Of course as long
as the ceiling isn't three stories high and you have to wait until tomorrow
for the light to come back down! ;-) Sometimes a side wall can save the day
or depending again on size of room and location bouncing it into a ceiling
corner produces an interesting effect and light spread.

Always think "NO FLASH FIRST!" Then turn on the "common sense" and go from
there.

cheers,
Dr. ted
