1. Dust is dust. I've been shooting in?woods with ash from the fires where 
every 
leaf, branch, stump and trail is covered with fine ash. When you breath it 
rises. No problem.
2. Protector? What could you possibly mean? Something between the lens and 
the 
sensor??Tell me more...

It takes more than "bulb air" to clean a big sensor, especially if you shoot
in Africa.

Also, don't the MF sensor backs have some sort of protector?
